The Evolution of Web Development

In an age where the Internet is not a luxury, but a necessity and people’s daily lives highly depend on their 24/7 access to smartphones and computers with functioning Internet, it can be safe to say our lives highly revolve around web development.

From ordering food, booking a cab, to talking to loved ones across the world, web development is responsible for all of these. This is why we want to take a look at its evolution over the years.

The Past:

  1. Web Development began as a sort of tool meant to ease the burden on complex processes that were handled by the finance sector. Today, website development has turned into a necessity and an essential feature of all businesses.
  2. Each block of code had to be manually typed into the system to produce structures that looked dull and were also very fragile.
  3. Websites could perform only the very basic functions like text, numbers, and other simple forms of showing data.

The Present:

  1. The current scenario of web development has come a long way from the past. In fact, right now, we are closer to the future of web development, compared to the past.
  2. The rise of low-code and no-code development tools has proven to be a great revolution in the discipline of web development.
  3. While earlier, each block of code had to be developed individually by the developers, but the rise of boilerplate code has made this task considerably less redundant and repetitive.

(As per Wikipedia, boilerplates are sections of code that are repeated in multiple places with little to no variation. When using languages that are considered verbose, the programmer must write a lot of code to accomplish only minor functionality. A set of pre-made code can be reused over and over again by making minor changes to achieve multiple functions while requiring minimal effort.)

The underlying principle is that all websites have more or less the same basic features — a bio, multiple pages/slides, CTAs, graphics, videos, animations, transitions, etc. Since all websites have these features, developers can simply use pre-made versions of the code responsible for these, making the task highly efficient, and considerably cheaper.

The Future:

  1. In the future, this will progress to a time where no-code tools will be much more accessible and versatile.
  2. This will even further make the development process faster & efficient, reducing the amount of effort & workforce required.
  3. The development of Artificial Intelligence technologies will play a great role in transforming the entire scenario of web development into a very tiny part of digital development.
  4. Everything that a developer could need to create a flawless website will become available at hand, in concise pre-coded format. An example to compare this with would be if all clothing stores had clothes that were tailored precisely for you, but were pre-made. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

Although not so far away, we’re still yet to have no-code tools that work that well. So, until then, let us offer you our web development services. Head over to our website — koloursyncc.com
